A peculiar and original German ceramic jug, it has a simple shape but at the same time innovative and modernist; the glaze of the jug was obtained by laying on the entire body a single dark brown color tending to black, then on the jug was brought back with grace and elegance the beautiful and seductive white decoration, which covers the central part, with a lively casting effect in pleasant contrast to the background color of the jug; then the two colors were fixed by a final firing in the kiln. The mark on the bottom tells us that the object was created as a limited edition, the jug is No. 30 and 2007 is the model number; it was produced between 1968 and 1971 in a craft workshop in the city of Dresden, (then in West Germany), an important center of porcelain and ceramic production. “Fat lava” is the name given to a certain style of West German art pottery that spread in the post-war period characterized by an extravagant amount of typical shapes, glazes, textures, and colors ranging from dark brown to orange, forest green to cobalt blue, ruby red to canary yellow; the production strategy of the artisans of this style involved rather simple and strict shapes that in combination of all the different decorations and colored glazes resulted in a very wide range of pieces. Our jug is presented with beautiful and harmonious proportions, and because of this strong personality, it can be placed in any style of decor. The jug is in good condition, only on the middle part there are small defects marked in the photo. Measurements diameter 22, height cm.32.
