“Shochikubai” (松竹梅) is a Japanese symbol representing the “Three Friends of Winter.” It stands for the pine tree (松, “matsu”), bamboo (竹, “take”), and plum blossom (梅, “bai”). These three plants are often depicted together in Japanese art and culture as a symbol of happiness, longevity, and prosperity.
