Early 20th Century Carved Wood Panel

Window Panel in the Lattice style. This kind of Lattice woodwork was used as a screen to protect the women in a household from male visitors. Some of these screens were very large and elaborate surrounding inner courtyards where men would gather for conversation and parties. The women would watch from behind the screens without being clearly visible. This is a fairly old piece and was possibly a window insert.
