A rare example of a late French Empire portico clock combining the use of mahogany casing with gilt bronze mounts and cut crystal. The four pillars linking the top and bottom sections of the clock are made of finely cut crystal and have original fire gilded bronze capitals and bases. The top and bottom of the clock case is made of mahogany decorated with classical gilt bronze d mounts. The original clock movement has a decorative gilt bronze pendulum hanging from a silk string suspension system. The bezel and dial, with brequet hands, are also of gilded bronze.
