Vintage Design
These characters represent two of the servants of Fudō Myōō, the central divinity of the five kings guardians, protectors of the law of the Buddha. Kongara is represented young, hands joined in a contemplative pose. Seitaka is traditionally represented with crimson skin (traces of red pigment are visible on her body), her posture is more energetic. The drapery of the two characters are deeply carved and accentuate the presence of the two works. The annotations stuck under the base are those of Claude de Marteau, his dating mentioned is Muromachi (1333-1573) H 36 cm x L 13 cm x D 7cm (without the bases) sold with provenance certificate.
